It’s an honor to work with repeat clients on prestigious projects – this being the fifth time I’ve had the chance to work on the Royal Lymington Yacht Club’s PotterShip Magazine – a 48 page end of year annual full of tall tales, salty sails, race reports and Royal visits to the local Club.
After developing a strong relationship with the magazine’s Editor and the Club Manager, they requested I continue production of the publication following termination of a previous employment contract. Knowing the process inside out helped with the tight timescale of the project, respecting a non-competition clause with the previous employer and delivering the final artwork for the magazine, from scratch with nothing but a physical copy for reference, in only two weeks!
Recreating existing artwork is always drawn out process – measuring a physical sample by hand and rebuilding style-sheets to ensure – to the untrained eye – the high quality finish of the publication is seamless without any knowledge of the change in supplier. Spending more than 40 hours just to get the styling in place, it was a relief to have a physical copy in my hand two weeks later looking just like the original copy.
